Our Campus

The Field School of Hvar is housed in The Fontana, a small, nostalgic resort located directly on the sea, ten minutes by foot from the bucolic town of Jelsa. Our coworking lounge and learning center are located at the Fontana, and most families stay in the resort’s rental apartments, although they don’t have to. The resort offers a combination of proximity, privacy, and safety that creates an atmosphere of a family coliving village. The resort also has two pools, a kid’s club, a gym, restaurant, and tennis courts. Here is why we partner with the Fontana:

  • Every apartment has a terrace, living room with fold-out couch, kitchen or kitchenette, desk, and storage. They are larger than comparable vacation apartments and hotel rooms.

  • The Fontana has a knowledgeable local concierge working 24/7. Car, bike, ATV, and SUP rental are available on site. Because the resort is so walkable, no car is needed, although free parking is provided.

  • The group rates available to Field families at Fontana are very affordable for Hvar, one of the most desirable destinations in the Mediterranean.

The Field School of Hvar draws on the beauty of our island in many ways. Our homebase is Jelsa, an idyllic environment for families. Extremely safe and mostly car-free, Jelsa’s riva or seaside promenade is full of children selling shells and crafts in the summertime. Gelato parlors and a lush park surround the piazza for a late night scoop or glass of wine. Jelsa also boasts important amenities like an emergency room and health clinic, modern grocery stores, beaches and walking paths, a vibrant Catholic community, local produce, boutiques, and high quality cultural institutions, which host frequent performances and exhibitions in the summertime.

The Coworking Lounge and Learning Center

Our Coworking Lounge and Learning Center are large, open-plan rooms overlooking the sea, with floor to ceiling windows. They are located across a foyer from each other in the Fontana resort, so pick-up and drop-off are only a few minutes away from the office.

The Coworking Lounge has reliable internet for normal professional use, as well as a printer. It does not have private call spaces, but all apartments at the Fontana have one desk per bedroom.

In the summer, there is a cafe downstairs, as well as a pool, walking trails, and the beach, should parents want to pause for a quick chat or refuel. Adults sometimes also enjoy exploring the island by hotspot.

Our program for children takes place primarily outdoors, but the Learning Center remains our hub for daily meetings, crafts, tools, and books.

Prices below are listed by session. After making your tuition deposit, you will receive a link to a private booking portal for Field School of Hvar families. A 30% deposit for accommodations is due upon booking. Bookings are fully refundable 45 days before arrival without cancellation costs.
