A unique example of well-preserved rural architecture, the former shepherd's settlement of Humac, founded in the 17th century, is located 7km from Jelsa, at 350 m above sea level, from where a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding villages, bays, the island of Brač and the Makarska coast opens. The charm of this settlement lies in its harmonious stone houses, courtyards, balconies, narrow streets and nature that has merged with the village in an inspiring scene. The Church of St. John and Paul in Humac is a recent construction.
From Humac, you will visit Grapčeva špilja, the most important prehistoric site on the Adriatic, in which signs of culture from the 4th millennium BC have been found.
How to get there
This hike will be guided by Jakov Rubinčić, whose family have lived in Humac for generations.
